The "CELTIC WHISKY"RANGE®

Celtic Whisky Compagnie is specialised in whiskies and whiskeys from Celtic origin. The current range includes several Scotch Whiskies, including some originating from Single Casks, Irish Whiskeys, and the Celtique Connexion range comprising whiskies distilled and aged in Scotland, then further matured in Brittany in the own warehouse of the company, in first fill casks selected under strict criteria for their character.

The first "Celtique Connexion" have been finished in Sauternes casks. For the record, it may be worth noting that it was Celtic Whisky Compagnie who pioneered the use of Sauternes casks : this practice has since been taken over by two Scottish distilleries of particularily high reputation.

The Celtique Connexion range is now being declined with whiskies finished in casks from other origins : Armagnac, Vin de Paille du Jura, Banyuls. The comparison of the the variety of characters obtained through these different finishings, clearly puts in evidence the determining part played by the origin and by the quality of the casks in the general process of whisky production.

If their Scottish origin is responsible for a good part of their character, these Single Malts have also definitely been influenced by their finishing in Brittany. Neither Scotch Whisky, nor really Breton Whisky, "Celtique Connexion" are whiskies with a character and a filiation being 100% Celtic and certainly justify their name.

The Celtic Whisky range has been awarded three Gold Medals and four Silver Medals by the tasting panel of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

A few suggestions about tasting
One will never say it enough that half of the pleasure offered by a good whisky is delivered by its aromas. Before drinking your whisky, take the time to smell it and to discover all its aromatic richness. Alternate moments of drinking and moments of olfactory pleasure. Your enjoyment will be only more intense and more durable.
For doing so, a glass of appropriate shape is necessary. Stay away from the traditional "tumblers", wide and with straight sides, unless you prefer to drink your whisky as a "long drink".
Otherwise, to take advantage of all its richness, use for instance a small "brandy" glass or a wine tasting glass which you may buy from your wine and spirit shop. The important thing is that the glass be not too big and has its sides closing towards the top, so as to allow concentration of aromas.
You may naturally drink your whisky neat, but you may also add a little plain water at ambient temperature, as little mineralized as possible, and in small proportion. A mere few drops will even contribute to favour the development of aromas.
If olfactory tasting is half the pleasure of a good whisky, being the natural complement of the part which is mouth tasting, we consider that there may exist yet another one : the third half ! Our experience has shown us that a whisky tasted in an appropriated musical context seemed to be always even better. No, do not try to sum it up, this third half does not fit with any mathematics : there is no other explanation than a little bit of Celtic Magic ! We suggest to you a few keys to enter it on the page Celtic Escape.
