"GLANN AR MOR" DISTILLERY IS UP AND RUNNING !
On 12 June 2005 at 5:06 PM, nine long years of preparation and of work were at last materialized, when the first spirit flew through the spirit safe of
Glann ar Mor distillery.

First spirit !
This first spirit was actually the "middle cut", which will eventually become "whisky" after having spent a minimum of three years in an oak cask (below : fermentation of the wash which will be distilled).
For such a special day, the weather had put itself in harmony, with a brillant and clear sky, and a perfectly quiet sea bathed in a glorious ligth (below : picture taken from the distillery on 12 June 2005 around 6:00 PM, with a barley field in the foreground).
In spite of the uncertainty potentially linked to the start of any completely new setting up, everything worked perfectly smoothly, from the first stage which was the mashing, up to the two distillations requested to deliver the final spirit (below : the wash still and the spirit still ready to be fired up).
This first distillation marks the start of operation of the distillery, this knowing that, as a reminder, a first distillation with a small volume and using a temporary equipment, had taken place on 31 December 1999, in the premises which were to become the home of the genuine and full distillery a few years later. The small cask which had been filled then has given birth to the "Taol Esa 1999" ("Taol Esa" means "The Essay" in Breton language) which has already received very favourable comments.
The operation of the distillery is from now on allowing the regular production of two types of Single Malt whiskies : an unpeated expression and a peated expression.
