| The Locke's distillery at the end of XIX th, as illustrated by John Barnrad in his book "The Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom" published in 1887, at a time when it was known under the name of Brusna. This distillery which ceased its production in 1958 is nowadays a museum. Comparison between this drawing and the photography shows it has stayed virtually unchanged since XIX th, having preserved all its character. It offers one of the most beautiful sights one can admire in the industry, set in a bucolic surrounding through which flows a little river which is still driving the water wheel which used to provide its energy. Its visit, which is of great interest to any amateur of Irish Whiskey, is picturesque and stamped in a nostalgic mood. It is situated in Kilbeggan in the centre of Ireland. |
